U is for Usul

Usul"Indeed the religion with Allah is ISLAM" 3:19

The word deen which is translated as religion means conduct based upon spiritual ideals which we call Aq'aaid - beliefs. The word aq'aaid is the plural of Aqeeda which means belief in the five roots of religion. Our belief in the Usul is based on Tahqeeq (to verify through investigation and study) for the foundation of deen must be strong to be able to build a strong character, to organise a reformed Islamic society and to enable an individual to reach his full potential.
